Process

From a pile of paperwork to a filed return.

The whole process has four steps, and you only handle two of them: handing over your documents and approving the result. In between, you only hear from us if something is genuinely missing. Normally, your finished tax return is with you within three working days.

The process in four steps

01

Send your documents

Online via our form, by post to Archplatz 2 or in person at your appointment. No need to sort anything — we take care of that.

02

We check for completeness

Within one working day we get back to you if anything is missing — with a specific list, not a generic email.

03

We prepare your return

A complete return including the securities register. Every possible deduction is checked individually, not just typed in.

04

You review and approve

You receive the finished tax return as a PDF. We only file electronically once you have given your approval.

Checklist

The documents we need.

Not everything applies to every situation — go through the list once and set aside whatever is relevant to you. You can send anything missing later at any time.

Deadlines

The dates that matter in the Canton of Zurich.

Your tax return must be filed by 31 March of the year following the tax period. If you can’t meet that date, request a filing extension beforehand — requests made after the deadline has passed are no longer accepted.

If you neither file nor extend, you receive a (free) reminder with a grace period; after that, a fine and a discretionary assessment (Ermessensveranlagung). These estimates are routinely far too high and can only be corrected with a reasoned objection within 30 days — and the missing tax return has to be submitted at the same time.

The tax assessment notice (Veranlagungsverfügung) also comes with a 30-day deadline from the date of delivery. It is set by law and cannot be extended. Miss it, and you have to accept the assessment — even if it is wrong.

FAQ

About the process

What if I can’t make the 31 March deadline?

Then we request a filing extension before the deadline. A first request submitted in time is deemed approved even without a reply — up to 30 November at the latest. Let us know early so we can plan your return in.

I have never filed a Swiss tax return. What do I need?

After moving to Switzerland or turning 18, your municipal tax office sends you a tax form or an access code. If nothing arrives, request it yourself — the obligation to file applies even if you never received the form. We guide you through your first return.

Do I have to send original receipts?

No. Copies, scans or phone photos are fine as long as they are legible. Keep the originals — you only need to produce them if the tax office asks.

How do I know my tax return has been filed?

You receive the filing confirmation from us together with the complete tax return as a PDF. That gives you proof in black and white.

What happens if the tax assessment differs from my return?

Send us the assessment notice (Veranlagungsverfügung). We compare it with the return that was filed and, if necessary, lodge an objection within the 30-day deadline. This is billed by time spent.

Can we help?

Your tax return, done in three days.

Book an appointment — you don’t need any documents yet. We clarify your situation in a conversation, check every deduction and file electronically. All you do is approve.
