Tax returns in the region
Tax return Zell — prepared and filed for you
We prepare and file tax returns for residents of Zell — Kollbrunn, Rikon, Rämismühle and Zell village — fully online or at our office next to Winterthur main station. Individuals from CHF 59, families from CHF 100.
Zell is not one village but a string of settlements along the river Töss: Kollbrunn just beyond the Winterthur city boundary, then Rikon, Zell and Rämismühle. Many households live in their own home on the valley slopes or in one of the newer developments on the valley floor, and most people in work commute daily to Winterthur or on towards Zurich.
We look after clients from Zell from our office in Winterthur — online, by post or in person. The Töss valley line gets you to the main station in about a quarter of an hour, and our office in the Archhöfe shopping centre is right next to it. If you would rather not travel, simply upload your documents and we file the finished return electronically via ZHprivateTax, the canton's online filing portal.

Typical topics
What often matters in Zell.
Owning a home in the Töss valley: imputed rent and upkeep
If you live in your own house in Zell, you are taxed on its imputed rental value (Eigenmietwert — a notional rent the canton adds to your income). In return you can deduct mortgage interest and maintenance costs. With older houses in the valley it pays to compare the flat-rate deduction with actual costs every year — after a new roof or a heating replacement, the actual figure is often much higher.
Commuting to Winterthur or Zurich
Most people in work commute by S-Bahn, and the cost of your travel pass is deductible. If you drive from one of the outlying hamlets to the station or straight to work, you need to be able to justify why. We put your travel costs together in a way the tax office accepts without follow-up questions.
Families with children
Zell is popular with families. The child deduction, costs for nursery, after-school care or a childminder, and the children's health insurance premiums all belong in the return — childcare costs in particular are often only partly claimed.
Example
Example: a family in Kollbrunn with a new heating system
A married couple with two children lives in a 1980s family home in Kollbrunn. During the tax year they replaced the old oil heating with a heat pump; both parents commute to Winterthur by S-Bahn, and one child attends after-school care.
Instead of the flat-rate deduction we claim the actual maintenance costs — in the canton of Zurich, replacing a heating system counts as a deductible energy-saving measure. On top come both travel passes, the childcare costs and the child deductions. The family uploads everything, we clear up questions in one phone call, and the return is filed electronically.
